Tycker det här en ganska trevlig samling, med gammalt och nytt, med "hits" och "rariteter", och de är framförallt sida 3 som är mest intressant då den innehåller rariteterna. Bl.a. en tidigare outgiven version av Mixed Up Confusion (det är inte samma version som gavs ut på singel i december 1962, se mer info kring de olika versionerna av Mixed Up Confusion). På singelversionen finns ett munspelssolo direkt efter Dylan intro "I got mixed up confusion Man, it's a-killin' me!", som saknas på den här versionen. Vidare får vi några låtar som bara släpptes på singel, som kan vara svåra att hitta. T.ex. en liveversion av Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues som släpptes som B-sida på singeln I Want You i juni 1966, en pianoversion av Spanish Is the Loving Tongue (långt mycket bättre än versionen på Dylan (1973) och fullbandsversionen av George Jackson (som var den första Dylanlåt på sex år som publicerades i Broadside Magazine).

Kuriosa: Under nästan 20 år (fram till att Biograph släpptes) var Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues den enda låt från turnén 1966 som fanns utgiven officiellt!!


Masterpieces släpptes på en dubbel-CD 1987, men då med 35 (istället för 39) låtar. De utelämnade låtarna var Idiot Wind, I Want You, Song To Woody och Love Minus Zero/No Limit.

1991 släpptes en trippel-cd med alla låtar.

Numera är Masterpieces sedan länge utgången och kan vara svår att få tag på.

Disc 1-4 innehåller låtar från nästan alla studioplattor som släppts fram till våren 2016, plus en låt från en liveplatta. De studioplattor som saknas är: Dylan (1973), Saved (1980), Good as I Been to Yoo (1992) och World Gone Wrong (1993). Man kunde väl ha tagit med iallafall en låt per platta, när man nu gav plats åt tre-fyra låtar från andra plattor... Exempelvis Mr. Bojangles (Dylan), Saving Grace (Saved), You're Gonna Quit Me, Baby (Good as I Been to Yoo) och Jack-A-Roe (World Gone Wrong).

Disc 5 är en typ av "Best of The Bootleg Series" (plus Biograph och M&A) och är en mycket trevlig samling. Boxen är nästan värd att skaffa bara för skiva 5, fast bara nästan.
